Thanks to the efforts of preservationists in our city, Greensboro City Council took a stand today against demolition of the Cascade Saloon on South Elm Street. In recognizing its historic value and its importance in the fabric of the city, they also had the wisdom to understand the expenses associated with NOT saving it. No building could be constructed on the site if the landmark were demolished, and it would remain a vacant lot in the middle of our historic downtown. Stay tuned for what is next in this
developing story.
